Rosann M. Ippolito is a graduate of Tufts University (BS), Boston, MA, Duke University (BHS), Durham, NC, Northeaster University (MHP, PhD), Boston, MA.    

Dr. Ippolito’s educational career began at Tufts University, where she received degrees in Biology and French.  Following work as a Medical Technician in a hospital biochemistry  laboratory, she entered the Duke University PA Program, graduating in 1982.  Immediately following graduation, she attended the Norwalk Hospital-Yale University PA Surgical Residency Program, and subsequently worked at Norwalk Hospital as a surgical PA.  From 1985 through 1989, she worked with the New England Organ Bank as Manager of Coordinator Training, Associate Director of the Organ Donation Division, and as Organ Donation Coordinator. 

In 1990, Dr. Ippolito received the Master of Health Policy degree from Boston’s Northeastern University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health.  Also in 1990, Dr. Ippolito began her teaching career at Northeastern University.  From 1990-1998, she was Clinical Coordinator; in 1998 she became Associate Director and in 2006 she was appointed Program Director of the Northeastern University PA Program.  In 2006, Dr. Ippolito received the Doctor of Philosophy degree from Northeastern University in the Law, Policy, and Society Program. 

The 2007 Alumnus of the Year has a lengthy history of service to the PA profession.  She has been a Director-at-Large of the Physician Assistant Education Association (formerly the Association of PA Programs), a representative to the House of  Delegates of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and President of the Massachusetts Association of Physician Assistants.  She has served as a site evaluation team member  for the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.
