Woodhall Stopford, M.D., MSPH, assistant professor of community and family medicine and program director, emeritus, and senior consultant to the Duke Toxicology Program, was named a member of a Science Advisory Board tasked with advising state regulators and public health officials on emerging chemical compounds.

The 15-member board, chaired by Jamie Bartram, professor of environmental sciences and engineering at UNC-Chapel Hill, was formed after Department of Environmental Quality and Department of Health and Human Services officials announced in July that an advisory panel would be formed to offer long-term scientific guidance on the effects of contaminants and advise on how to protect health and environment.
